Alert logic

When does an alert fire?

DiffScout is built to eliminate noise. You only hear about real price changes.

1
Check runs on your schedule — every 30 minutes, hourly, daily, or weekly depending on your plan. DiffScout visits the page and extracts the current price.
2
Price is compared to the last recorded value. If it matches, no alert fires. The check is logged silently. Zero noise from unchanged pages.
3
If the price differs, an alert fires immediately — to email, Slack, or webhook depending on your plan. The new price is recorded in your history chart.
4
A confidence score is included in every alert so you know how certain the extraction was. Low-confidence results are flagged, not suppressed.
Use cases

What teams use price change alerts for

From flash sale detection to MAP enforcement — if a number on a webpage matters, DiffScout can watch it.

Competitor promotion detection

Your competitor starts a 20% sitewide flash sale at 8am Friday. You get an alert by 9:30am. Your marketing team has time to respond before the weekend traffic peak.

🛡️
MAP violation monitoring

A retailer drops a product below MAP on Wednesday morning. You get an alert the same day — not at the next weekly review when the damage is already done.

📉
SaaS plan price changes

A competitor quietly lowers their Pro plan from $99 to $79. You catch it before your sales team hears it from a prospect mid-deal. Respond on your terms.

📦
Amazon Buy Box shifts

Track an ASIN. Get alerted when the Buy Box price drops, triggering a pricing response before organic ranking begins to erode or conversion takes a hit.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How fast are price change alerts?
Median time from price change to alert is ~1.8 hours on daily-check plans. Business plan ($99/mo) checks every 30 minutes — alerts arrive within ~30 minutes of a price change during check windows.
What does a price change alert include?
Every alert shows: the mission name, previous price, new price, % change (up or down), the exact time the check ran, and a direct link to view the full price history chart.
Can I get Slack alerts for price changes?
Yes — on the Business plan. You provide a Slack incoming webhook URL and DiffScout posts change alerts directly to your channel. No Slack app install needed.
Will I get alerted for every check, or only on changes?
Only on actual price changes. DiffScout compares the current price to the last recorded price and only fires an alert when they differ. You won't get noise from unchanged checks.
Can I set a price threshold — only alert if change is over X%?
Not yet — alerts currently fire on any price change. Threshold filtering is on the roadmap. You can email hello@diffscout.com to request early access.
